space Born in 1944 and a life long resident of Washington State, Day has been working as a professional sculptor and painter for over 30 years and has shown extensively internationally and throughout the United States.

For many years, Day has lived abroad in Turkey and currently lives in China.
Jeff Day is living in Nanjing, China with his wife who is teaching in an International School. Jeff made some wonderful contacts with two significant Chinese artists who have taken him under their wings and acclimated him to Nanjing. One man is a watercolor artist in his 80’s and the other man is a young woodblock artist. They have both had a positive influence on Jeff’s work in Nanjing.
Nanjing is in the southeastern part of China. It’s the old capital of China in Jiangsu Province. A very ancient city with one of the most well preserved ancient city walls in the world.
Jeff has been made a Cultural Ambassador to Nanjing from Seattle! He was interviewed on T.V. In his official capacity he is to bring art programs to Chin and take Chinese artists to the U.S.Lately he has been thinking it would be great to bring the Rural Characters to Nanjing!
Jeff has become an artist in residence at his wife's school, The Nanjing International School. He is working with students casting porcelain pieces and teaching a general sculpture.
As Jeff goes about his daily life in Nanjing he is amassing a massive collection of images of China. From there he will put together 2 dimensional works that depict what China is like now.He was working with a foundry in Nanjing for a while but was very unhappy with the quality of the bronzes that were cast. This was a difficult challenge given the language barrier and differing standards. Jeff’s new work, organic, abstract forms, will be cast in porcelain instead of bronze.
Porcelain is a great option since the bronze was not working out. The world renown, Jingdezhen Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute, is where Jeff is taking his sculptures to be cast. He is excited about working in this new medium and thinks his abstract pieces will work out beautifully. The Jingdezhen Institute ships work all over the world and has a fantastic reputation.
Jeff Day continues to grow as an artist and living in other countries has helped him stretch and learn new techniques as well as be inspired by a new worlds and cultures.
