Moonlit Sonata “There is nothing in the world so much like prayer as music is.” I have a strong attraction to movement. I love to observe the rhythm of people in their daily lives. Their unconscious self -propelled motion displays a visual autobiography of their lives. This non-verbal communication is enhanced when music is audible. Music is known to stimulate pleasure. When humans dance together it is a deep form of communication. Dancing evolved from prehistoric ancestors to bond and tell stories. There is a theory that suggests that early humans may have danced to attract a mate. When two people share time with music and movement their serotonin levels are raised which boost moods and causes a more intimate understanding of one another. The name Moonlight Sonata because while I was working on this piece I was infatuated with Wilhelm Kempff’s recording of Beethoven’s masterpiece, especially the third movement where the energy is rapturous and passionate.
