James Busby
The recent paintings by James Busby are of the Texas Hill Country and the surrounding area. His colorful spontaneous images of his home state of Texas have been his focus during recent years. Impressionism and Naturalism are integral elements of Busby’s style and his choice of subject matter. Intensity of color and a vigorous brush stroke are obvious results of his Plein-Aire approach to working outdoors. Painting with a palette of full color, he has developed a signature image of separate brush strokes of color charged with emotion……changing hues, lights and darks, with textures and patterns with every painting.
“Especially during the Spring and early Summer, there is an endless array of awe-inspiring beauty in this part of the state……along each road, beside each river and creek bed, and over each hilltop. No other place in the world has the colorful scenes and the experiences of nature that is out there…..out in the Hill Country of Texas.”
Busby’s works can be found in many Collections, Businesses, Universities, Hospitals, and in many Private Collections. He has worked with numerous galleries, museums, and other public venues to display his art.
He served as Art Department Chairman at Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas from 1970 – 2016 as well as Artist-in-Residence.
