Patty Groening was born in Everett, WA and raised in Portland, OR.
In 1975 she earned her B.A. from Goddard College in Vermont. And in 1991 she received her B.F.A. in Painting with top honors from the Pacific NW College of Art in Portland, OR.
Her brother is Matt Groening who was the creator of the popular "Simpsons" cartoon. He used the names of his family members for the Simpsons family characters ... Marge, Homer, Lisa, Maggie and Patty.
