| The drawings start by searching for the right piece of slate. Its not uncommon to go through 100 different pieces of slate stone tile and only come up with a couple that may work. I look for pieces that have several elevations because I feel the natural texture lends an element of sculpture which compliments the drawing style. The drawing is usually done on the lowest elevation using a very small fine tip permanent pen, one dot at a time, most commonly referred to as stipple. A way I like to describe it is if you were to peel away enough layers you would eventually uncover the rest of the image. Each piece is an original, no prints. The presentation is first class. I spare no expense on the framing, down to the use of museum glass for optimum clarity and protection. The size of the stone is typically 12 x 12; with framing the finished size is 24 x 24. |
